Queue Notifier

Hear when callers are waiting, even away from the screen.

Queue Notifier plays a chime or a spoken message over your overhead paging or phone speakers when a queue gets too busy or a caller waits too long. Your team keeps working and still knows when to pick up.

  • Limits for each queue
  • Chimes, recordings or text-to-speech
  • Overhead paging or phone speakers
How it works

From a waiting caller to a sound in the room.

Queue Notifier watches the queues you choose. When a caller has waited past your limit, or too many callers are waiting, it plays your alert out loud where your staff can hear it.

  1. Pick the queues

Tick Monitor next to each 3CX queue or ring group you want to watch. Every one keeps its own settings.

  2. Set your limits

Enter a maximum wait time in seconds, a maximum number of callers waiting, or both.

  3. Choose the sound

Play a traditional chime, an audio file you uploaded, or a message you type that is read out by text-to-speech.

  4. Staff hear it

The alert plays through your overhead paging or the speakers of your phones, and repeats at the interval you set.

A Windows service watches your queues in the background, so nobody needs to keep a screen open. You change everything from a web portal, with no need to be a 3CX expert.

One screen for every queue

Give each queue its own limits and its own sound.

Each queue's limits and sound are set on the Queues screen in your browser. Each queue or ring group gets one row, so a busy sales queue and a quiet support line can alert in different ways.

  • Max wait timeAlert once a caller has waited longer than the seconds you set.
  • Max calls in queueAlert when the number of callers waiting reaches your limit.
  • FrequencyRepeat the alert at the interval you set, in seconds.
  • Client alertsAlso send an alert to the Queue Notifier Client, at a limit or whenever a caller is waiting.

The Queues screen. Here the first queue has a maximum wait of 5 seconds, a frequency of 10 seconds, and Notify By set to Chime Once.

Spoken alerts

Pick the voice that reads your alerts.

Type the message you want people to hear and Queue Notifier reads it out. Preview it with the Play button.

  • Windows TTSUses the voices already installed on the Queue Notifier computer. Choose the language, male or female, and the voice.
  • OpenAIUses cloud voices from OpenAI with your own API key. Choose the voice, a standard or HD model, and the speed.
  • Your own recordingsPrefer a recorded message or your own chime? Upload audio files and pick one for each queue.

Windows TTS: language, gender and voice.

OpenAI: voice, model, speed and your API key, with a Test button.

Where it helps

Made for teams who are not sitting at a screen.

Florists and small shops

Queue Notifier was first built for florist shops, where one person may be handling many tasks. A chime lets them keep working without checking the phone.

Staff away from their desks

Play the alert over overhead paging so staff who are away from their desks hear that callers are waiting.

Busy front desks

Set a short wait limit on the main line so a chime or a spoken message prompts whoever is free to answer.

Shared phone teams

Give each queue its own limit and its own message, so people know which line needs attention from the sound alone.

How is this different from Queues Wallboard?+
Queues Wallboard shows real-time queue and agent information on a screen, for people who can watch it. Queue Notifier plays a sound, a chime or a spoken message, over paging or phone speakers, for people who are away from a screen. Both are included in the VoIPTools Subscription, and you can use them together.
Will it work with my 3CX?+
Queue Notifier works with 3CX version 20. It runs alongside 3CX on its own Windows machine and connects through the VoIPTools Relay. Ask us and we will confirm your exact setup.
Do we need an overhead paging system?+
No. Alerts can play over overhead paging or through the speakers of your phones. Add your 3CX paging dial code in the settings and the phones answer on their own and play the alert.
Can we use our own sound?+
Yes. Upload your own audio files and choose one for each queue, use a traditional chime, or type a message for text-to-speech. You can preview each one with the Play button.
Can it remind agents who forget to log in to a queue?+
Yes. Queue Notifier can play a chime when users do not log into queues, as a reminder to log in so calls are not missed.
Do changes take effect right away?+
After you change settings, stop and restart the Queue Notifier service. You can do this from the General Settings page in the portal.
Can you set it up for us?+
Yes. Our paid Installation Support team can log in to your servers, then install and configure Queue Notifier for you.
