Exporter

Your 3CX call data,
in your own database.

Exporter is a small Windows service that keeps a Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL or PostgreSQL database in sync with 3CX, in near real time. Build reports in the tools you already know, or in the report designer that comes with it.

  • SQL Server, MySQL or PostgreSQL
  • Sync frequency set in seconds
  • Cloud-hosted 3CX through the VoIPTools Relay
How it works

From 3CX to your database, then into your reports.

Exporter copies the call data 3CX already keeps into a database you manage, and your reporting happens there.

  1. 3CX logs your calls

3CX keeps call history in its own database and can write a call detail record (CDR) file for each call.

  2. The Relay connects

The VoIPTools Relay lets Exporter reach that data, including CDR files on a 3CX system hosted in the cloud.

  3. Exporter keeps it in sync

A Windows service copies the tables you choose in the background, as often as you set in seconds.

  4. Your database holds it

The copy lives in Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL or PostgreSQL, separate from 3CX, so your call history is kept for reporting.

  5. You report on it

Run the built-in reports, design your own, or connect the reporting tools you already know.

Built-in reports

Reports ready to run, and a designer for your own.

Exporter includes a Report Designer and a Report Viewer, so you can report on your call data right away.

  • Default reportsStart with reports grouped under Call Reports and Queue Reports, such as the Queue Insights report.
  • Your own parametersSet the dates, queue, service level threshold and time zone, then run the report.
  • Design your ownAdd tables, charts, gauges, sparklines and cross tabs, or build a report step by step with the wizard.
  • Print or exportSave a report as PDF, Excel, Word, CSV, HTML, plain text or an image.

Prefer your own reporting software? The data sits in your own database, so you can use the reporting tools you already know.

Where it helps

Built for teams that want their own numbers.

Businesses with their own reporting

Your analyst points the reporting tools you already use at the Exporter database and builds the call reports your business asks for.

Contact centers

A supervisor runs the Queue Insights report for last month, with the team's service level threshold, and exports it to PDF to share.

3CX hosted in the cloud

Exporter reaches the CDR files through the VoIPTools Relay and copies the data to your own database.

Long-term call history

Call data is kept in a database separate from 3CX, while processed CDR files are cleared on the schedule you set.

Exporter is included in the VoIPTools Subscription.

One subscription gets you Exporter and 30+ other add-ons for 3CX.

What gets copied

Pick the 3CX data you want to report on.

Tick tables from a list in Exporter's settings, and turn on CDR processing to add a record for every call. A few examples:

  1. Call records

Data from the 3CX CDR files, in a table named cdr, with start, answer and end times, duration, numbers, display names and why the call ended.

  2. Call history

The 3CX call history and call details tables, such as callhistory3 and calldetails.

  3. Queue activity

Queue call tables, including queue calls, dropped calls and agent queue status.

  4. Chat

The 3CX chat history tables, added in the October 2023 update.

  5. Extensions and queues

The extension and queue tables from 3CX, copied alongside the call data.

Inside Exporter

Set it once and let it run.

Exporter has a web portal for its settings, reports and logs. Sign in with your 3CX extension number and voicemail PIN.

Export tables

Choose exactly which tables to copy.

Tick the 3CX tables you want in your database and save. Exporter keeps them in sync at the frequency you set, and you can change the frequency and database settings whenever you need to.

  • Export frequency set in seconds
  • Process CDR files with one checkbox
  • Your pick of Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL or PostgreSQL
Retention

Clear out old CDR files on a schedule.

Turn on automatic deletion, set how many days to keep processed CDR files, and choose the time of day it runs. Leave it off and nothing is deleted.

  • Retention period in days
  • Runs each day at the time you choose
  • Only CDRs Exporter has already processed
Permissions

Decide who can open what.

Pick a 3CX role and choose which Exporter pages it can open: Report Designer, Report Viewer, Logs and Settings.

  • Eight roles, from User to System Owner
  • Reset a role's permissions in one click
  • System Administrator and System Owner always keep full access
Everything included

Report scripts

Add custom logic to a report in the designer's script editor.

Questions

Exporter questions, answered.

Anything else? Our team answers 24/7 from the USA, India and the Philippines.

Which databases does Exporter work with?+
Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQL. You choose one when you install Exporter and test the connection before you continue. On a first install, Exporter creates the database for you.
Does it work if our 3CX is hosted in the cloud?+
Yes. Exporter uses the VoIPTools Relay to reach your 3CX CDR files remotely, and copies the data to the database on your side.
How up to date is the data?+
You set the export frequency in seconds, and Exporter copies updates from 3CX on that schedule in the background.
Can we use our own reporting software?+
Yes. The data is stored in your own database, so you can use the reporting tools you already know. Exporter also includes a Report Designer and a Report Viewer if you would rather build and run reports there.
What is the difference between CDR files and the 3CX tables?+
Exporter can copy both. CDR files are a simpler record of each call, with who was on it, how long it lasted and the call chain. The tables from 3CX's own database hold more detail. If the CDR data covers what you need, we suggest starting there.
Who can sign in?+
Managers sign in with their 3CX extension number and voicemail PIN. In Role Access Permissions you choose which Exporter pages each 3CX role can open.
Which 3CX version does it work with?+
3CX version 20. Exporter runs on a Windows computer alongside 3CX and connects through the VoIPTools Relay.
