Barge Messages

Your approved notice, played word for word on a live call.

Barge Messages keeps a library of saved audio messages. Click Barge In and the message you picked plays into the live call, then the add-on leaves the call on its own. In version 20 it is part of Audio Announcer.

  • Upload a .wav or type text
  • Report of every message played
  • Web-based, no client app
What happens on the call

Your message joins the call, plays, and steps back out.

Nobody has to read the notice aloud, and the caller stays on the call they are already on.

  1. The call is live

Your team member and the caller are talking. A required notice or a lengthy disclaimer is due.

  2. Click Barge In

Pick the saved prompt in your browser and click Barge In beside it.

  3. The message plays

Barge Messages barges into the current call and plays the recording, the same approved words every time.

  4. It drops out

When the message ends, Barge Messages drops out of the call on its own, and the conversation carries on.

Your message library

Every approved message in one list, ready to play.

Each saved prompt sits in one list with its file name, version and description. Play it first to check it. When the moment comes on a live call, click Barge In beside it.

  • One list of approved messagesA recording notice, a required disclaimer or a welcome, each with a clear description.
  • Check it before callers hear itClick Play to listen to any prompt first.
  • Versions when wording changesKeep the same file name and save the new wording as a new version.
Why teams use it

Stop asking people to recite long notices from memory.

Lengthy boilerplate is hard to say the same way every time. A saved message is.

Reading it aloud
With Barge Messages
The notice is read from a script, a little differently each time
The same approved recording plays every time
Long wording gets rushed on a busy day
The full message plays, word for word
Updated wording depends on everyone learning the new script
Save the new wording as a new version of the same prompt
Hard to show which notice a caller heard
The report lists each message played, with date, time and version
A closer look

Build the library, then see what was played.

Add a prompt

Upload a recording or type the words.

Give each prompt a file name, a version and a description. Upload a professionally recorded .wav file, or type the text and let text-to-speech read it.

  • Keep the same name and add a new version when wording changes
  • Uploaded .wav files must be longer than one second
Reports

A record of every message played into a call.

The barge report lists each message with the date and time, the phone number, the extension, the file name and the version. Choose the display time zone and export it to CSV, Excel or PDF.

Where it helps

For the calls where the exact wording matters.

Financial services and insurance

Keep each approved disclosure as a prompt with a version number, and play the current one when the call reaches that point.

Legal and professional services

Play a reviewed disclaimer into the call instead of reading it, then check the report for which version was played and when.

Contact centers

Save the standard service notices once so every caller hears the same recording, not a rushed summary.

Recording notices mid-call

Keep a short "your call is being recorded" prompt ready and play it with one click when it is needed.

Questions

Barge Messages questions, answered.

Anything else? Our team answers 24/7 from the USA, India and the Philippines.

Is Barge Messages part of Audio Announcer?+
Yes, for 3CX version 20. Barge Messages is part of Audio Announcer, together with Recording Beep and Agent Greetings, and its setup is covered in the Audio Announcer V20 documentation.
Who can play a message?+
The people whose role you allow. Role access permissions decide which roles can create and manage barge prompts and which can view the reports. They pick a saved prompt and click Barge In to play it into the call.
Will it work with my 3CX?+
It works with 3CX version 20, Professional and Enterprise editions. It runs alongside 3CX on its own Windows server and connects through the VoIPTools Relay. Ask us and we will confirm your setup.
Can we use our own recordings?+
Yes. Upload professionally recorded .wav files longer than one second, or type the text and let a text-to-speech engine read it.
Do agents have to install anything?+
No. Barge Messages runs in a web browser, so no client application is needed. Users sign in with their 3CX voicemail PIN or web client password, whichever you choose.
Can we see which message was played?+
Yes. The barge report shows the date and time, phone number, extension, file name and version for each message played, and you can export it to CSV, Excel or PDF.
Does it help with disclosure rules?+
It is designed to help you comply, by making required wording easy to deliver the same way every time. It is not legal advice, so confirm the rules for your location and industry.
Can you set it up or run it for us?+
Yes. Our paid Installation Support can set everything up end to end. If you prefer not to host it yourself, we can run your VoIPTools add-ons on AWS with monitoring around the clock and keep them updated.
