Auto Logout

Stop queue calls ringing at empty desks.

Auto Logout counts the queue calls each agent misses in a row. When an agent reaches your limit, it logs them out of the queue or changes their 3CX status, so calls move on to someone who can pick up.

  • Your limit of missed calls in a row
  • Logout or a 3CX status change
  • Email alerts to the agent and manager
How it plays out

Two missed calls in a row, and the queue moves on.

Here it is with a limit of 2. You choose the limit, how long a call rings before it counts as missed, and what happens next.

  1. 1Missed call 1

    The count starts

A queue call rings past your ring time and the agent does not answer. The count goes to 1, and nothing changes yet.

  2. 2Missed call 2

    The limit is reached

The same agent misses a second call in a row and reaches the limit you set.

  3. 3Auto Logout acts

Logged out, or a new status

It logs the agent out of the queue, or sets the 3CX status you chose, such as Do Not Disturb. The agent and their manager can get an email.

  4. 4The queue moves on

Calls reach someone who is there

Queue calls stop ringing at the empty desk and move on to agents who can pick up.

Every day at the time you choose, each agent's missed-call count goes back to zero and the count starts again.

The settings

Set it once, on one page in your browser.

Sign in with your 3CX extension and voicemail PIN, open Global Queue Settings, and decide what happens when an agent misses too many calls.

  • Max Missed CallsThe number of calls in a row an agent can miss.
  • Threshold Ring TimeHow long a call can ring, in seconds, before it counts as missed.
  • Logout or Set 3CX StatusLog the agent out of the queue, or pick a status from the list or type your own custom status.
  • Schedule TimerThe time each day when the missed-call count returns to zero.
  • Monitored QueuesTick the queues to watch, or tick the header to choose them all.
  • Email alertsEmail the logged out agent and their manager, with a copy to a second address if you like. A Test button checks your mail settings.

The settings page also has built-in help that explains how Auto Logout works, and Custom Branding for the header title, logo and colors.

The default alert subject reads: You have been logged out of 3CX queues due to inactivity.

Auto Logout is included in the VoIPTools Subscription.

Why it matters

Agents forget to log out. Auto Logout does not.

When an agent steps away and stays logged in to a queue, calls keep ringing a phone nobody is there to answer.

Agents logging out by hand
With Auto Logout
An agent steps away and forgets to log out of the queue.
After the number of missed calls you set, the agent is logged out or their status changes.
Queue calls keep ringing an empty desk while the caller waits.
Calls move on to agents who are there to answer them.
Unanswered calls skew your 3CX statistical reports.
Your 3CX reports stay closer to what really happened.
Nobody knows until a caller complains.
The agent and their manager can get an email each time Auto Logout acts.
Phones ring around the office with no one to answer.
Fewer unanswered phones ringing, and a quieter office.

Shorter hold times

Callers stop waiting on agents who are away from their desks.

Service levels you can keep

Fewer unanswered queue calls help you keep the service levels you have promised.

Remote teams covered

Calls are not left unanswered because someone working from home forgot to log out.

Questions

Auto Logout questions, answered.

Anything else? Our team answers 24/7 from the USA, India and the Philippines.

What counts as a missed call?+
You decide. Threshold Ring Time sets how many seconds a queue call can ring before it counts as missed for that agent.
Does one missed call log someone out?+
Only if you set the limit to 1. Auto Logout counts missed calls in a row and acts when an agent reaches the Max Missed Calls number you enter.
When does the count start over?+
Every day at the time you set in Schedule Timer, each agent's missed-call count returns to zero.
Can it change the agent's status instead of logging them out?+
Yes. Choose Set 3CX Status and pick a status from the list, such as Do Not Disturb, or type your own custom status.
Which queues does it watch?+
Only the queues you tick in Monitored Queues. Tick the header box to choose every queue at once.
Who gets told when it acts?+
With email alerts turned on, Auto Logout emails the agent and their manager, and can send a copy to a second address. It needs your mail server details, and a Test button checks them.
Which version of 3CX does it work with?+
The current release is built for 3CX V20. It runs alongside 3CX on a separate Windows server and connects through the VoIPTools Relay.
Is Auto Logout sold on its own?+
Auto Logout is included in the VoIPTools Subscription, along with 30+ other add-ons for 3CX.
