Caller ID

The right caller ID for every call you make.

Caller ID lets your agents pick which of your numbers shows when they call: a client's number, an organization's, or one that matches the region they are calling. When they are done, one click reverts them to their default.

  • Numbers named by client or region
  • Web app, nothing to install for agents
  • One-click revert to the default number
What it does for you

One agent, the right number for each kind of call.

Managers load your numbers once and give each one a name. Agents choose before they dial, and switch back when they are done.

  1. Calling for a client

    Show that client's number.

When your team calls on behalf of an organization, the agent picks its number from the list, and that number is the caller ID on the call.

  2. Calling one region

    Appear local.

Calling customers in one region today? Pick a caller ID that matches their region. A caller ID that is local to the region you are calling results in better answer rates.

  3. Done with those calls

    Back to your own number.

Revert puts the extension back on the agent's own caller ID, or on the group's default number if the agent has none.

Caller ID changes an extension's outbound caller ID temporarily. The agent makes the choice each time.

What your agents see

One list of named numbers and a Revert button.

Agents sign in from any browser with their 3CX extension and voicemail PIN. Their Caller IDs screen is built around two things: the Numbers list and the Revert button.

  • Names, not just digitsEach number carries the name your manager gave it, so agents can tell which client or region it belongs to.
  • A clear confirmationA message confirms when the caller ID is updated, and again when it is reverted.
  • A number typed by hand, only if you allow itAgents can enter a manual number. Managers can hide that option so only listed numbers are used.

Every agent needs a default caller ID for Revert to work. A number typed by hand cannot be reverted with the Revert button.

The Caller IDs screen: choose from the Numbers list, or click Revert.

The open Numbers list. The names come from your managers.

Questions

Caller ID questions, answered.

Anything else? Our team answers 24/7 from the USA, India and the Philippines.

Does it change the caller ID for good?+
No. It changes the extension's outbound caller ID temporarily. When the agent clicks Revert, the extension goes back to the agent's own caller ID, or to the group default if the agent has none.
Can agents show any number they like?+
Only if you allow it. Agents choose from the numbers your managers add, and they can type a manual number unless a manager hides that option. A manual number cannot be reverted with the Revert button. Only use numbers your business is entitled to use.
Does it pick a number for each call automatically?+
No. The agent chooses the number before placing calls, from the list your managers set up.
Do agents need to install anything?+
No. Caller ID is a web app. Agents open it in a browser on the device of their choice and sign in with their 3CX extension and voicemail PIN.
Can an agent work for more than one group?+
Yes. The same agents can be in more than one group, without removing them from one group to add them to another.
Which 3CX version does it work with?+
3CX version 20. Caller ID runs alongside 3CX on a Windows machine and connects through the VoIPTools Relay.
