Monitor

Find out what really happened to any call.

Monitor tracks every 3CX call in real time and saves each step to Microsoft SQL. Follow the path a call took, see who handled it and how it was routed, and how long it rang at each leg.

  • Real-time logging of every call
  • Microsoft SQL storage
  • Web portal you can reach from anywhere
Follow the call

See every stop a call made, from the call menu to voicemail.

Monitor logs each leg of a call as it happens. When someone asks what happened to a call, you can follow its path in order and see who handled it.

  1. CallerThe Call ID and the number it came from
  2. Call menuEach leg logged as it happens
  3. QueueHow long it rang at this leg
  4. AgentWhich agent received the call
  5. ManagerWho transferred the call
  6. VoicemailWhose voicemail the message was left for

One example route. Monitor logs every call, so you can follow the path each one took.

Where it helps

Clear answers when someone asks what happened to a call.

How did it end up there?

When you need to know how a call ended up at a particular extension, follow its legs in order.

How long did it ring?

See how long a call rang at each leg of the call.

Who touched it?

See which agent received the call, how long it took, and who else handled it along the way.

What happened yesterday?

Every step is saved in Microsoft SQL, so you can look back at a call after it has ended.

How it works

How Monitor traces a call, one leg at a time.

Every event on a call is logged as it happens, from dialing to disconnect. Put the entries side by side and the route reads in order.

  1. The call starts

Monitor logs the call with its Call ID, the number it came from and the number that was dialed.

  2. Each person gets a number

The caller is connection 1 and the person they reach is 2. If the call is transferred, the next person is 3, and so on.

  3. Every change is logged

Each leg shows its status, Dialing, Ringing or Connected, and the time of its latest change.

  4. Transfers and voicemail are named

Referred By shows who transferred the call. On Behalf Of shows whose voicemail the message was left for.

  5. Read the call together

Group the events by History ID or Event Date, then expand a group to see its entries side by side.

The Events screen

Every step of a call, in one list you can organize.

The Events screen records complete call progress and a full list of attributes for each leg. Drag any column into the grouping bar to organize the list the way you need it.

  • Call ID and History IDUnique IDs for each call and each history item, with details of every call leg.
  • Who and which wayThe calling and called party for each leg, marked inbound or outbound.
  • Recordings and dataThe name of the recorded audio file, and the connection details attached to the call.
  • Your time zonePick the display time zone, and every event time is shown in it.

Grouped by History ID. The open group shows two entries for Call ID 523, connections 1 and 2.

Group by Event Date, then History ID, to browse call history day by day.

Built for troubleshooting

Built by our developers to trace calls, now yours to use.

Monitor started as an internal diagnostic tool for our development team. It is now used to find out who touched a call and how it was routed through 3CX.

Real-time logging

All calls are tracked as they happen, with complete detail for every step saved for later review.

SQL based storage

Call events are stored in Microsoft SQL Server, on the same machine or on a remote server.

Web portal

Open Monitor in your browser from anywhere and sign in with your 3CX extension and voicemail PIN.

Automatic clean up

A delete policy removes events older than the age you set, on a schedule you set, so queries stay quick.

Questions

Monitor questions, answered.

Anything else? Our team answers 24/7 from the USA, India and the Philippines.

Who is Monitor for?+
Anyone who looks after a 3CX phone system and needs to troubleshoot call routing. It began as a diagnostic tool for our own developers and is often used to find out who touched a call and how it was routed through 3CX.
Will it work with my 3CX?+
Monitor works with 3CX version 20. It runs alongside 3CX on its own Windows machine and connects through the VoIPTools Relay. Ask us and we will confirm your exact setup.
What can I see for each call?+
Every event from dialing to disconnect: the Call ID, a connection ID for each person, the numbers involved, whether each leg was inbound or outbound, its status, who transferred it, whose voicemail a message was left for, the recording file name and the attached connection data.
Will the database grow forever?+
Not if you turn on the delete policy. A busy phone system logs many events, so Monitor lets you choose how old records must be before they are removed and how often the clean up runs.
How do people sign in?+
With their 3CX extension number and voicemail PIN, in the browser.
Can we view times in our own time zone?+
Yes. Pick a display time zone on the Events screen and every event time is shown in it.
Can it carry our branding?+
Yes. Custom Branding lets you set the header colors, the grid color, your own logo and a title prefix.
Is it included in the VoIPTools Subscription?+
Yes. Monitor is included in the VoIPTools Subscription along with 30+ other add-ons for 3CX.
Can you set it up for us?+
Yes. Our paid Installation Support team can log in to your servers, then install and configure Monitor for you.
